Scott Johnson went to film school on purpose. Instead of a conservatory, he enrolled at the USC School of Cinematic Arts to study Film & Television Production—putting himself in the classrooms where directors were developing their first projects. Called USC’s “secret weapon” by one of his professors, he rebuilt the school’s film sound editing course for remote instruction as its TA, and became the program’s default composer, scoring over 100 thesis films, including Cannes and Student Academy Award-recognized projects.
Prior to graduating, Scott was invited to join the team at Hans Zimmer’s Bleeding Fingers Music. He has since co-written songs with Roeban Katz and worked alongside Alexandre Desplat, and in 2020 scored a “Shot on iPhone” short for Apple Inc.
Beyond film, Scott has sound-designed segments for Coachella and partnered with top-tier digital creators. His research-backed cochlear implant audio simulation for advocate Chrissy Marshall reached 2M+ viewers, and his editing and original scoring for Chelsea Sik helped drive a channel network of 674M+ views.
Recognized for his collaborative world-building on the sci-fi film EUROPA (dir. Jacqueline Elyse Rosenthal), Scott was invited to sit on a guest panel at NASA/JPL’s Europa Clipper Summit—and the film went on to two nominations at the Oscar-qualifying HollyShorts Film Festival.
